Eye Camp
December 22nd, 2019, we had our sixth annual Eye Camp. Besides being very cold month, Camp day went very well. Many people wait and look forward for our annual camp. People came from nearby as well as far away towns. There were approximately 580 patients. Team of professionals, doctors, volunteers from Al-Ahsan Eye Hospital came from Lahore. As normal procedure, everyone got their eyes checked. Some patients received free reading glasses. Some received prescription for glasses along with free frame to get the glasses made from any local Optical store. 63 patients were recommended for operation. On a later date, Gujrat Welfare Society arrangements for busses and took those 63 patients to Lahore. Children treatment usually take many trips. However, everyone is taken care. We thank God Almighty for great success rate. Special thanks to all the volunteers old and new who had great enthusiasm. Some of them came as far as USA.
Rescue 1122 Training for community
Rescue 1122 is like 911 and ambulance team that response to any emergency. Often in villages, emergencies from heart attack to broken bones to children chocking happens at home but no one knows what to do. Rather sometimes have mythical solutions those end up hurting patients. In Rescue 1122 department, Pakistan government has professional highly educated members that will go out and train public at no cost. On March 3rd, 2020, GWS arranged for training session for women at Sher Garh hospital. During training, some women shared their stories how they could have done different when their loved ones died at home. They learned a lot. It was very helpful for community. Thanks to Mr. Tassadaq and Mr. Zafar. They did very good job. Thanks to Punjab Government to have such programs. GWS made it happen. Thanks to Suraj Saleem for supporting a roll of a patient with broken boons.
